Medical & Personal Care Services
To insure an optimum level of health, a nurse and personal care assistants are on duty 24 hours a day to meet the residents’ needs. The staff is available to provide supervision or assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs); coordination of services by outside health care providers; and monitoring of resident activities to help to ensure their health, safety, and well-being. The Inn provides assistance in the following areas:
Mobility
Residents who need assistance with mobility and can be transferred easily with the assistance of one staff member are appropriate for residency at The Inn. Walkers and wheelchairs are permitted; the provision of these items is the responsibility of the resident. Residents may utilize the mobility assistive devices independently or our care giving team will be happy to assist residents to activities, dining, using the bathroom, etc.
Activities of Daily Living
Activities of daily living include, but are not limited to: bathing, grooming, personal hygiene and dressing. The Inn’s care givers will provide assistance in these areas as long as it can be safely accomplished by the assistance of one person. Residents living in the assisted living area must be able to feed themselves and go to the dining room for meals.
Medication Administration/Physician
The nurse, at the request of the physician, will administer medications in accordance with the Inn’s policy. In addition, the nurse will contact the physician and/or family of a resident and arrange for transportation to and from the physician’s office or hospital as the resident’s condition warrants. The Inn’s Medical Director kindly accepts The Inn’s residents, who so desire, as patients and will visit them at The Inn if necessary.
Incontinence Assistance
Resident’s with occasional incontinence problems are accepted. For residents needing this service, our care giving staff will assist in toileting them throughout the day to try and prevent accidents and will also assist them in clean up and changing when necessary. Residents must wear protection and accept assistance from the staff.
Orientation & Redirection
Care givers will compassionately assist residents with cognitive impairment reminding them of meal times and activities and reorienting them to time and place if possible. When reorientation is not possible, our trained staff will work to validate the resident and redirect them. Reminders for personal hygiene are also given.
Special Supportive Services
Special Services may include assisting with occasional oxygen needs, providing special dietary services, or any need that requires extra time daily from the staff.
Hospice, Physical Therapy and other Supportive Services
Although The Inn does not provide these services directly, the nurse will assist families in coordinating support services as necessary and in accordance with the Residential Care Facility guidelines of the Ohio Department of Health by which The Inn is licensed.
Special Care
In response to the recognition of our Residents’ intensified specific needs, we have developed a special care program that exceeds the established residential personal care services and the standard services of The Inn. Our special care program includes those residents with Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia as well as those with special needs too intensified to be fully cared for by The Inn’s standard services.
