Senior Spotlight: Bessie Vlahos

Born in Canton, Ohio, Bessie Vlahos looks back on her childhood with great fondness. School was something she genuinely loved, and her days were often filled with imagination and creativity — especially when playing with her beloved puppets. These early joys set the tone for a life full of movement, grace, and artistry.

A Performer at Heart

Bessie pursued her education at both Walsh University and Malone University, building a foundation that would support an extraordinary career in the performing arts. Her passion led her to ballet, where she danced professionally for 25 years. Through discipline and expression, she brought stories to life on stage, captivating audiences and living out her dream.

Love found Bessie at a church dance, where she met the man who would become her husband. That special night blossomed into a lasting partnership rooted in shared values and deep affection.

Enjoying Old and New Connections

For the past three years, Bessie has called The Inn at Belden Village home. Her son, after thoughtful consideration, brought her to The Inn at Belden Village, knowing it was the perfect place for her to thrive in comfort and care. It’s a decision that continues to bring both of them peace and happiness. Bessie sees her son often, cherishing their visits and the bond they share.

At The Inn at Belden Village, Bessie enjoys many simple pleasures: good company, engaging activities, and especially the food. She’s a big fan of the potato salad, always eager for a helping of potato salad when it’s on the menu.

Free in Mind, Spirit, and Body

As the years go by, Bessie embraces her life with a light heart. She speaks often about how much she has loved her carefree days in later life, filled with warmth, laughter, and gratitude.

With her elegance, charm, and a lifetime of graceful memories, Bessie continues to inspire those around her. We’re honored to have her as a cherished part of our Inn at Belden Village family.
