Senior Spotlight: Mary Dysle – West Virginian Farm Girl

A Farm Girl at Heart

Mary was born in Davis, West Virginia, in 1931. She grew up on a farm and attended school in a one-room school house. Her father raised cattle for a living, so Mary and her five siblings often helped him on the farm. She loved growing up on the farm because she got to play with the animals, ride horses, and spend quality time with her family.

Once Mary finished school, she began working and started out working for Akron Furniture. She then went on to get a job at Goodyear where her brothers were working, and she ended up landing a the career of her life—she worked at Goodyear for 32 and a half years. During her time there, Mary worked in the office of the service department where she wrote reports for the guys who were working out in the field.

Meeting the Love of Her Life

Mary met her late husband Donald at a dance at her church. If it wasn’t his dance moves that impressed her, it was his awesome blue Corvette and charming personality. The two were married in 1969 and she became a step mother to Donald’s two sons. Donald worked for the infamous Hoover company for over 40 years.
